Thanks for you Fasting and Prayers!

HEY!!! :) Thanks so much for the fasting and prayers! THEY HELPED! Just like the Apostle, President Henry B. Eyring said......How can we help people? Even if we are located far away from people, we are close to God so our fasting and fast offerings REALLY DO HELP. Trust me....they are received and truly help people.
So here we have been inviting people to come to General Conference. There was a nice turn out. A LOT of investigators came on Saturday but the members were few! But on Sunday it was opposite...If we could get them all TOGETHER it would be better haha. So we have been working in our own unique ways. So far this transfer, I have learned a lot about patience.
Now before I discuss the talks I enjoyed most in General Conference let me first just say a few things....We were able to walk up a mountain with a guy we are teaching, and when we arrived we prayed together. It was nice. I was able to take some time for myself and just enjoy the peace of it and say a private prayer...really speak with our Heavenly Father. WOW! What a difference neh?
So as alluded to above, we were finally able to sit down and enjoy the talks from General Conference! I enjoyed the talk about Grace and works and about the Parable of the Sower and the roots we require and especially about being amongst the thorns...The main idea of the whole conference to me was to trust God and NOT get DISTRACTED....or deceived. Hey so the talk I loved the most was Elder Brent H. Nielson.....( https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/04/is-it-still-wonderful-to-you?lang=eng&media=video#watch=video)  We need to LOVE and to WATCH and to WAIT. LOVE though, is as Elder Jeffrey R. Holland has said our WATCH WORD. That's what I loved a lot. (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/04/where-justice-love-and-mercy-meet?lang=eng )
So as of this week and the work, it's going well and we have a big meeting tonight just like Brigham Young. :) LOVE YOU!!!
Love,

Elder Petrie

‪HELLLLLLER!!!! They are working out my travel arrangements now.......:)
General Conference for us is this weekend.
Speaking of temples, going to the temple is one of the first things I want to do when I get home!!!! :)
Nice to hear about Red Mountain (Rugby)!!! Hope they can pull through to nationals....do you know the score?! Yo is the touch rugby world cup happening?!?! I wish I could have gone.
Hey so this week was crazy...I'll start on a happy note then end sad....sound good? haha ok so I went to Sister B. mother this week. We helped her with her VAST garden! YO! It was hard work but really fun :) I got all dirty which is always fun :) Also I was able to help bless the sacrament this past Sunday, and also give a talk. So I gave a talk, but as well I got to hear a WONDERFUL talk! It was all about not casting our confidence away and trusting that we are children of God even like when Moses was tested by satan and he said, "Moses though son of man" when Moses was like....ummmmmm who the heck are you?! I'm a son of GOD! haha it was sweet! :) Anyways....We also tracted in the rain...(take it as happy or sad that's my transition......hahaha)
So! We have been having some attacks here in Durban called Xenophobia....*(You can Google SA Xenophobia to learn more about this)!  I have shed tears and prayed much for these people that I LOVE...Please pray for peace in South Africa...
OK, on a happy note to end...I Love you all!!!!!!!
Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Petrie

Elder Petrie's Birthday Email, 2015!

I'm going to have quite a happy birthday tomorrow visiting people and what not...and you guys made it special...thanks! No, no package yet but it's alright. It’ll come haha :) I still need to send mine :P haha
This week I have some nice and not so nice stories. FIRST we were going around last night and we visited this sister that was pregnant (really pregnant) well, we went in and I asked....Sister H. how are you?! She said........in labor. I was like....OH! haha So we sat a while then let her rest for her "marathon” as she calls it haha. She was delivering at home and I think we'll stop by tonight to see how it all went. But another story.....So we had no electricity for church woohoo!  hahaha :0
Today we’ve already been to this place and a guy approached my companion and they talked for a long time. Turns out he was looking for some truth. Wow did he find it! neh? hahaha Also this week we had a disappointment when this family didn't come to church.....only to find they didn't come because there pastor told them not to.......EISH I feel bad when others, especially leaders, tell them what to believe and really leading them in the wrong direction!!! Eish. But on a happier note, I really had a wonderful week full of missionary stuff.
We also went to this ma's house and she taught us how to make some nice food while we were talking with this guy we are teaching! It was fun. Church was nice on Sunday, B. is in the Gospel Doctrine class now at Sunday school…She also cut my hair, which makes her super successful in hair cutting now. haha. Also we talked to her mother and set an appointment and a time to help in her beautiful huge garden. Wow it's nice haha. She's going to teach us a thing or two neh? haha But other then that I'll have a nice week this week I think :) I love you all very much!!! LOVE YOU!!!!
Love,
Elder W. Clay Petrie
